Senior Executive Team

Ardstone is led by its founders Donal Mulcahy and Donal O'Neill. They bring a combined 30 years of real estate experience and have been working together since 2002. They have different skills, styles, and experience which combine to produce a highly effective leadership force.

Ardstone's senior executive team also includes Ciaran Burns, Craig McDonald, Philippe Jouan, Nils Obermann, Renaud d'Argembeau and Willem Hendrik van de Wetering. Each partner has strong capital markets expertise, extensive transaction experience and long-established contacts in the financial and real estate communities. By drawing on its collective skills and experience Ardstone delivers real value for its clients and strives to invest in a manner that optimises value on entry, during management and at time of exit.

Philippe Jouan

Philippe is Head of France for Ardstone and is based in Paris. He is responsible for sourcing new investments, undertaking the due diligence process, transacting and then executing the asset management strategy.

Prior to working with Ardstone, Philippe established his own property management company in 2004 and has worked with some of the top real estate investors in France. Previously, he started, as Managing Director, the French subsidiary of Oppenheim Immobilien in France, developing a portfolio of 60 assets worth over €1bn and a team of 15 people.

Prior to that, he was Head of Business Development for GE Real Estate in France, participating in the creation of a key player in the French real estate market. Between 1990 and 1996, he was director at FGIC, a subsidiary of GE Capital, specialised in credit enhancement, in London and in Paris.

At Credit du Nord, a French commercial bank, he was Managing Director of the London Branch (1988-1990) and Unit Head in the Corporate Finance department (1986–1988). He worked for Citibank in Paris, as Unit Head in the Corporate Finance department (1982–1986) and previously as a Director in the real estate finance and investment department (1979–1982).

Philippe is fluent in English and French. He has nearly 40 years of debt financing and real estate investment experience in the French property market. He is on the board of the Society of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) in France, has an MBA from INSEAD, a law degree and a Diplôma from Institut d’Etudes Politiques in Paris.
