Senior Executive Team

Ardstone is led by its founders Donal Mulcahy and Donal O'Neill. They bring a combined 30 years of real estate experience and have been working together since 2002. They have different skills, styles, and experience which combine to produce a highly effective leadership force.

Ardstone's senior executive team also includes Ciaran Burns, Craig McDonald, Philippe Jouan, Nils Obermann, Renaud d'Argembeau and Willem Hendrik van de Wetering. Each partner has strong capital markets expertise, extensive transaction experience and long-established contacts in the financial and real estate communities. By drawing on its collective skills and experience Ardstone delivers real value for its clients and strives to invest in a manner that optimises value on entry, during management and at time of exit.

Nils Obermann

Nils is the Head of Germany and is based in Düsseldorf. He is responsible for sourcing new investments, undertaking the due diligence process, transacting and then executing the asset management strategy. Nils manages all of Ardstone's German investments. He oversees a very active asset management programme involving management of refurbishment, letting, accommodating the business expansion needs of current tenants and repositioning properties.

Prior to working with Ardstone, Nils worked with the investment team in Jones Lang LaSalle. During that period he advised on over €3bn of real estate transactions in Germany on behalf institutional investors such as Allianz AG, Deutsche Bank REEF, Hansainvest, and RWE. In addition, he represented private international investors from the US, Canada, and the Netherlands.

Previously he worked in Commerzbank, managing investors for their closed and open ended property funds, and in Strabag Projektentwicklung GmbH, one of the largest developers in Germany. In Strabag, Nils was responsible for residential sales and office lettings and was involved from the early stages of each project to ensure the design met the needs of the occupier market.

Nils is fluent in German, English and French. He has 26 years of commercial property experience in the German real estate markets and has a wealth of experience, contacts and an established reputation throughout the German market.
